Mental Health First Aid Training in Our Region
Trillium Health Resources provides free Mental Health First Aid training in our region. This course teaches how to recognize and understand behavioral health challenges. Participants also learn how to connect them with appropriate support and resources.
All too often, mental health stigma can trap and isolate us. Approaching someone about their mental health does not have to be complicated. Sometimes it can be as simple as having a conversation with them. This is where Mental Health First Aiders come in. Mental Health First Aiders can provide help earlier when someone is in a crisis.
One in five Americans has experience a mental health challenge, but many are reluctant to seek help or do not know where to turn for help. Unlike physical conditions, symptoms of mental health and substance use problems can be hard to see. Friends and family members may not know when and how to step in. As a result, those in need of mental health services often do not receive care until it is too late.
Mental Health First Aid is like CPR. It prepares people without clinical training to help in certain situations. Mental Health First Aiders learn a 5-step Action Plan to help reach out and offer support.
Mental Health First Aid has become a full-blown movement in the United States. More than 3 million people in the United States have been trained by thousands of certified trainers. Mental Health First Aiders have had personal and professional impact in their communities.

Mental Health First Aid training is only a part of the journey to an open mental health culture. Mental Health First Aiders play a crucial role in supporting individuals in their personal and professional lives. However, wider policy changes are important for significant change. As a Tailored Plan and MCO, Trillium always strives to improve the mental health literacy of our communities. Mental Health First Aid does not stop with a single course. It is an ongoing journey of learning, experiences, and understanding.
